Kirra Beach Restaurants and Cafes are the lifeblood of Kirra Beach. Here at St Helens Coolangatta Bar & Grill, we are proud to be part of the little borough of Kirra. So, with many dining and drinking options available, Kirra is one of the up and coming areas of the GC.
We would like to give you a bit of a guide and a shout out to some of our friends along our strip of Kirra Beach venues. So, I will start with the ones closest to St Helens and work outwards in either direction.
Gary and his crew have built up a solid following over the past year serving fried feasts to the hungry beachgoers. With the newly grassed Roughton Park across the road, what can be better than grabbing a flake and chips and lazing in the park? Point Break Fish and Chips are the best!
One of the best Thai places around is 2 doors away from us. So, Jerry knows her Thai and has built Rama Thai with a strong reputation for quality food. Food which can be eaten in, or it’s always busy for pickup or delivery. Also, our Chef Jess often sneaks to Rama to get her favourite noodles. Only after we close down the Kitchen. And, if she goes there; it has to be good!
Zephyr Coffee – the legend. Justin, Mandy and their great team have built a cult following among the locals and tourists alike. Open daily from 6 am serving freshly roasted coffee and divine Breakfasts and Lunches. We use Zephyr’s cold press for our Espresso Martini’s and Iced Coffee. So we know it’s a winner!
Also, It is a privilege to be one of the neighbours of a Kirra legend. Formerly housed just above St Helens. Bread n Butter was a firm favourite of not just Kirra, but it seemed like the whole Gold Coast! Now it has brand new digs right under the Iconic apartments. So, the owner – George has built an amazing reputation for his hand made Gnocchi. Thursday night is Gnocchi night if you want to check out how good Gnocchi can be.
Leaving our strip of shops, we discover Café Kirra. Cafe Kirra is run by Dean and Lisa. They have knockout weekday specials as well as fresh daily muffins. For those windy days, there is also a protected courtyard to enjoy your meal or coffee.
Obala is a relaxing place with an Adriatic (think Croatia), theme through its beautiful menu. Also, it’s Open for Breakfast, Lunch and weekend Dinners. Kristine is a charming host and has been steadily building her following. I’ve heard great things about the Sharing boards, both antipasto and the fancy Seafood one. Check it out.
So, no guide can be serious without mentioning Kirra’s favourite place, Tupe Aloha. Home to the famous, Wing Monday, Taco Tuesday and Burrito Wednesday’s. Locals and visitors flock to check out Tippa’s trendy place with a distinct Tropical theme. Also, like St Helens, “Tupes” has live music on the weekends and a great Happy Hour to boot! This is an awesome gem among Kirra Beach Restaurants.
Cam and Kat have created a cool little space to call their own, Cafe All Sorts. Also, Serving a killer Breakfast where the Haloumi Rosti Stack is a favourite. As well as a delicious lunch, Café all Sorts has found its niche within the Kirra Dining Scene. Open from 6 am – 3 pm all days. It’s a great place to get a quick snack amongst all of the Kirra Beach Restaurants.
How could we not mention Kirramisu. Snuggled down the Northern end of the strip, Emma has Kirramisu pumping for Breakfast and Lunch. With glorious beach views and a tempting dessert case, it’s a great place to check out on your morning walk.
